Would I be a c.f. if I asked?

I want to change hairdressers as cuts are not inspiring. Colour hairdresser has done for me has been lovely though. A friend says I could ask my hairdresser to write down what colours she used and in what proportions. I wonder if that is being a cf though as the hairdressers skill to create so not say like taking eyesight prescription to another optician. What do you think?

Can you not just get it coloured at the same place and cut somewhere else?

AnAC12UCOinanOCG · 17/05/2019 20:05

Do it. Sounds like you've given that place a fair amount of custom (multiple cuts) so they can't moan.

If your not planning on going back, just be brave and ask. Who cares if they think your cheeky!

PompeyBez · 17/05/2019 20:36

If you like the colour, why not continue getting it tinted there and go elsewhere for a cut?

TitusP · 17/05/2019 20:38

My sister asked her hairdresser this and he was fuming, became very dramatic and started shouting about being an artist and how dare she ask for the secret to his art. She left very bemused and hasn't been back (not that she was planning too anyway). So ask but be prepared for them to say no! Her new hairdresser has done a much better job of her hair colour in my opinion anyway!

Why not tell her you’re moving away?

Expressedways · 17/05/2019 20:40

I agree with PP- don’t change colourist if they do such a good job. Just go elsewhere for your cut, which is presumably less frequent than your colour appointment anyway. But yes I do think it’s cheeky to ask your colourist to write everything down so you can take your business elsewhere, I’d never be ballsy enough to ask! Also, another salon might not even use the same products so it could be totally pointless.

I moved to a different city. My hairdresser had no issue with writing down the colour for me to give to new hairdresser.

PatchworkElmer · 17/05/2019 20:41

I’d also keep going there for colours.

Carolcool · 17/05/2019 20:42

I do think that this would seem like CF behaviour.

Take the plunge and find a whole new hairdresser.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 17/05/2019 21:40

A good hairdresser will be able to work out what colours to use on your hair using colour charts. I wouldn't ask tbh, a lot of hairdressers get a bit funny about it Confused

DelusionalDog · 17/05/2019 22:16

i did this. told my old hairdresser i was moving 200 miles away and asked for the details. she gave them no problems.
