To be worried this is something serious?

For 5 days now DH has had a bad headache, I should mention he has always suffered from migraine, even medicated for it, on Sumatriptan I think, for a time but he rarely takes painkillers now as it tends to go as soon as he had a sleep.

But this headache hasn’t gone with sleep.

He says it’s mostly on the top of his head, aggravated by movement or coughing.

He doesn’t really have much pain when he’s sitting or lying down still.

He’s never had a migraine last days before and has taken some cocodamol with no effect although he thought it did lessen it slightly yesterday.

I’m really worried.

A brain tumour wouldn’t stop causing pain on sitting/lying down would it??

His cousin had a brain tumour and I’m really worried.

Why hasn't he been to the gp?

Manclife1 · 17/05/2019 19:20

Ring 111 and speak to them about it. I wouldn’t trust the advice from mumsnet for diagnosing possible brain tumours.

PowerslidePanda · 17/05/2019 19:25

Do see medical advice, but headaches that are aggravated by moving are often sinus headaches - they can be quite similar to migraines.

Divgirl2 · 17/05/2019 19:25

Pain isn't really a symptom of brain tumours, although it can be. Seizures, personality changes, forgetting how to speak, one sided weakness - these are more common symptoms of brain tumours.

Persistent pain on the top of the head that is worse when up and about sounds like a tension headache, or even dehydration. But I am not your husband's doctor - that is the only person who can help, and realistically the only person who will really reassure you.

I’ve had similar this week, I’ve been under the weather a very blocked up and woken up every morning with a headache which is worse when coughing and sneezing.

As it’s not got better seek medical advice then the underlying cause can be treated

Why hasn't he been to the gp?

Because he is an idiot.
He only told me this evening and that is the first thing I also said.
He says he’ll go if he still has it over the weekend...

Sinus headache, he has a medicine for some sort of sinus/middle ear trouble...
Cetrizine or something..
I gave him one earlier, he can have 3 a day so I’ll give him another one at bedtime.

2 of the kids have been under the weather aswell, maybe it is linked.

I will make sure he sees a GP if it doesn’t go soon
