Ok, moved into council house about 5 years ago, we're council tenants the neighbours are private let.
About 2 years after we moved in the took down the council built boundary fence between our properties and started to build their own. Front and back and communal entrance area. Now they never completed the work and only done half the back garden, so we have a huge gap in the fence between our properties.
We don't speak, never have, we don't get on, they are not approachable and never asked us if they could do this, and never asked the council either.
Fast forward to today, I want to put our own fence up, i asked our housing officer and we need to get permission, so they want to see our plans, then inspect the work to make sure the quality is to standard, all fair enough.
My question is this, should they not have got permission before taking down the council fence and get permission etc?? Or is it because we are council tenants the rules are different, and surely they are obliged to finish the work?
Anyone know anything about this kind of thing??
