AIBU to resent the idea that my MP blocks my emails on purpose?

I've just had an email from my MP about something I sent months ago, saying that it had got caught in his spam filter. Now, I'll admit to being one of those people who emails their MP a lot - especially with all this Brexit bs going on. And me and my MP are poles apart, politically. But to think he's been flagging my emails as spam all along! Has he ever read anything I've ever written? It's his job!

I think that you have misinterpreted that. I think he was apologising because it had gone into the spam accidentally. He has emailed you about it, so not blocking you at all.
You can be pretty sure that if he had deliberately blocked you he wouldn't be telling you about it!

HBStowe · 13/05/2019 17:57

Yeah, he’s just apologising for the fact that your emails accidentally ended up in the spam folder. That can happen for lots of reasons - he hasn’t done it on purpose.

notacooldad · 13/05/2019 17:57

I agree, it does sound like it had gone to spam. It happens!
You have an apology. You have no reason to resent this issue (unless theres is a drip feed coming)

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 13/05/2019 17:59

You’ve misread his email, there is lots of reasons emails go into spam.

MyYe · 13/05/2019 18:00

If he'd blocked you deliberately why would he admit it? And why would he bother replying at all?

bellinisurge · 13/05/2019 18:18

He's not blocking you. Stuff gets sent automatically to spam folder if there is something in the email's meta data or even a word in the subject line that the standard filter doesn't like.
This will be the dead hand of Microsoft or Apple or whatever doing their work automatically and nothing to do with your MP.
Always a good idea to check your junk folders from time to time to see what has automatically been sent there rather than to your Inbox.

Northernparent68 · 13/05/2019 18:24

Would you blame him if he did block you ?

What do your endless emails achieve, you will never change his mind so why not leave it.

Magenta82 · 13/05/2019 18:24

YABU to not know how email works.

Dyrne · 13/05/2019 18:26

... is this a joke?

Do you really not understand how spam filters work?

mabelsgarden · 13/05/2019 18:26

YABU sorry. I get emails going into my spam folder all the time! I got a very important one from the tax office the other week; I was waiting and waiting for it, and it had been there for 5 days, in my spam folder! Blush

RebootYourEngine · 13/05/2019 18:51

What do your constant emails consist of?

GeneticTest · 13/05/2019 21:27

I work for an MP.

The spam filters are controlled by central Parliament services. They catch many things every day that are not Spam.

They have to be very strict as MPs are sent dodgy emails all the time.
