Heading into another night of intolerable insomnia

Sunday - 2 hours
Monday - 2 hours
Tuesday - one hour
Wednesday- 6 hours (sleeping pill)

I fucking hate this. Have posted before under different user name. I have heavily rationed sleeping pills so cannot have one now until Sunday. It has been going on for three years. I cannot carry on like this. I have tried EVERYTHING.
Just need to off load. Not looking for a magic bullet as I know there isnt one.
Flowers to any other sufferers

I don't suffer as badly as you but I get on average 3-4 hours very broken sleep a night.

I am used to it now. I even function ok during the day. But fuuuuck, the nights are long and of course when I am awake my mind is racing and the anxiety/ruminating kicks in.

What is the root of your insomnia do you think ?

Insomnia is an utter bastard, isn’t it. And people who’ve never suffered just don’t get the misery of it.

Mine isn’t as bad as it used to be but I still get bouts of it. Now I deal with it by listening to audio books or podcasts. It takes my mind off not sleeping and stops me just tossing and turning all night. I feel a bit more rested even if I’ve not got any actual sleep.

I have been hearing good things about this

There's lots of evidence and it says you might be able to get it on the NHS.

When you do finally get to sleep, do you wake up because you have to (e.g alarm for work) or does your insomnia wake you up?

I don't know much about treatment for insomnia but DS has clinical sleep issues and has melatonin. His sleep is much improved because of it. Helps him fall asleep but not stay asleep.
