I read My Sisters Keeper first, wept buckets

if you are pregnant then you have forfeited all rights to learn facts, assess risks and make decisions. You are the property of the state.

diplodocus · 18/07/2007 13:32

It's not just that you've forfeited the right, Katy - you don't have the ability! Surely you noticed the minute you became pregnant your brain shrank to the size of a walnut and you had to rely on everyone else to tell you what was good for you?

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 13:34

didn't you know that you and your children belong to the government, the ultimate nanny, we no longer have personal responsibility or are capable of thinking for ourselves.

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 13:35

I mean at what point before you were pregnant did you eat uncooked chicken?

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 13:36

they even put folic acid in bread now

donnie · 18/07/2007 13:41

well I fully intend to carry on downing neat meths, including throughout pregnancy. And smoking fags and snorting charlie.

Katy44 · 18/07/2007 14:04

diplodocus, good point. I obviously didn't have the judgement to do my job either, why didn't they appoint someone to do it so I could stay in bed wrapped in cotton wool while they pay me full wage?

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 14:05

yes me too I'm going to start now and drive simultaneously

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 14:06

hitting all the red lights and shouting yaboo!

meowmix · 18/07/2007 14:06

ladies please. step away from the computer. the glare from the screen will seep from your eyeballs into the placenta and 10% of british children will therefore have square eyes.

And please stop thinking. It will upset the natural order and cause you to be intelligent.

emj23 · 18/07/2007 14:07

I anxiously await a thread called 'AIBU thinking Charlie should be left alone and nor snorted at, the poor chap'

Katy44 · 18/07/2007 14:11

[snort]

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 14:11

what about my share of folic acid anyway i'm gluten intolerant? I demand it. How much does it cost to put folic acid in everyones bread?

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 14:12

can we put calcium and iron in there too then we wouldn't have to think about healthy eating at all.

Katy44 · 18/07/2007 14:17

just strap em to a hospital bed and get them drip fed with their RDAs of all nutrients. No more. That goes for post birth when breast feeding too.
Don't forget to roll them over occassionally to prevent sores

rebelmum1 · 18/07/2007 14:18

and a walk to stop thrombosis! best wake them up just as they are sleeping nicely to have a walk about.

Wisteria · 18/07/2007 14:20

well we won't have to worry about tescos taking over the world or grocery shopping in general - they will be issuing us all with 3 pills a day from now on to replace meals and they will be made up with the optimum food groups for our chosen professions, ie more omega 3 for those with brain powered jobs and less for manual workers.

Katy44 · 18/07/2007 14:40

Wisteria - I think you've come up with the next big thing - patent it quick!

Wisteria · 18/07/2007 14:59

Can't take credit for it I'm afraid - was my pilates teacher the other day, we were on our soap box about nanny stateism again! (Whilst trying not to fall over from some ridiculous position!)

Katy44 · 18/07/2007 15:33

that sounds dangerous in itself

expatinscotland · 18/07/2007 15:36

I moved to the UK so people would leave me the hell alone. That had been all I wanted as long as I can remember, to be surrounded by folk who mostly minded their own business and let me get on with mine.

Smartest move I made .
