To be worried about my holiday?

Going on a short break next week (Mon-wed) to Scotland. We have lots of outdoor activities planned and I'm getting really worried because the weather is so bad. I have decent clothing but I'm not really thrilled at the idea of walking around in the rain! The weekly forecast isn't very helpful because it seems to vary so much depending on who is providing it!

Up here there is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing .it will be fine just bring clothes for all eventuallity. It really is a beautiful country hope you enjoy

It has been bloody cold here recently, but as long as you’re dressed for it you can still have a good time! Lots of layers, decent boots and a waterproof, and you’ll be grand.

nooddsocksforme · 09/05/2019 10:14

Looks not bad to me for next week on the west coast . Better than it’s been

Springwalk · 09/05/2019 10:15

It is going to be much warmer next week, just take the right clothes and you will have fun whatever the weather.

Nubbled · 09/05/2019 10:23

Looking good here (west coast) looking forward to getting the garden sorted next week.

QuestionableMouse · 09/05/2019 10:24

It's the wet I hate, especially with a dog and toddlers! So much faffing on. I'm prepared for bad weather but must admit my heart is sinking a bit thinking about it. We're in a caravan so limited space to get stuff dry which is the worst bit imo!

I thought the forecast was looking pretty good here for next week. Warm and dry. What parts are you going to? Make sure you have lots of layers, good waterproofs and boots if the forecast is looking bad. May is the best month for a holiday in Scotland usually.

helpfulperson · 09/05/2019 11:37

South east Scotland forecast looks good. Where are you going?

HBStowe · 09/05/2019 11:42

All of next week looks like it will be pretty dry - fingers crossed for you!

QuestionableMouse · 09/05/2019 12:02

We went to the highlands Easter week, it was gorgeous weather even when it wasn't very nice where we live.

Have fun it's such a beautiful country.

QuestionableMouse · 09/05/2019 14:23

Thanks! I'm excited... I really need this break.

Weather forecast for next week is good. I mean Scottish ‘good’ weather isn’t ever really that good but the natives will be half naked as the forecast of 16 is usually taps aff weather.

Gth1234 · 09/05/2019 15:21

At least if it's cold there'll be no midges.
The big trouble with Scotland is the hills spoil the view.

Gth1234 · 09/05/2019 15:22

And the forecast is good for next week. :)

OnlyRealButterWillDo · 09/05/2019 18:23

I moved from England to Scotland years ago and discovered that actually the weather is pretty much the same as back home (admittedly not south England). In fact, DSis back in England has far shittier weather than me which surprised me.
My stereotype was shattered.

Besides, it's supposed to be cracking th' flags next week. (Aka lovely and sunny)

Imicola · 15/05/2019 11:47

I'm jealous now! Weather is fantastic!

Nearlythere1 · 15/05/2019 12:34

@Quetionablemouse don't use BBC weather for Scottish forecasts, they absolutely always go way overboard with the bad weather and it never materialises. Use STV instead!
