To ask how to manage (suspected) ulcer without meds?

Endoscopy Friday week so have to stop all meds 14 days before. Have diarrhoea, pain and feel like insides and throat are full of battery acid.

I have the liquid stuff from GP and that's all I can take til after it's been done. Don't drink/smoke/drink coffee. What else can I do???

I was told by a dietician that the big thing to avoid was acidic foods (such as tomatoes and citrus fruits), caffeine and any spicy foods.

I have an untreated stomach ulcer; I've had it for a few years. It needs surgery but not yet, for other reasons.

Mostly I can manage it through diet; usual advice is to avoid alcohol and anything citrus-y when it's bad, along with any foods that are hard to digest and tend to create gas. Stress flares mine up more than any food! Lying on the floor with your knees bent might relieve some pain. Avoid ibruprofen and NSAIDs.

I hope that helps a bit, good luck getting it sorted Thanks

I really sympathise. Refined carbs are a big trigger for my heartburn, things like pastry and white bread. Can you raise the head end of your bed? I can't help with the diarrhoea or pain though. Keep taking the gaviscon.

Cut out the carbs. Eat much smaller meals. Don't eat anything acidic, like oranges.

Dairy products might help with the pain, if you can have them. Poor you.

Thanks all, Anchordown 'twas nsaids that done for me years of taking them to manage joint/nerve pain.

I am off to a great start and mainly eating haribo for energy. And just ate mozzarella with tomato salad for lunch forgetting tomatoes are acidic :(

It is literally the worst timing for me at work but hey ho probably why it's so bad.

Thanks again
