Main thing I want to know is - do you have to learn to fly a small plane first?

  • best place to train for helicopter licence in uk?
  • how long it takes if you trained full time?
  • cost?
  • job availability
Will start reading up but wondering if anyone knows anything offhand ? Thanks

All I know is that according to an ex Army friend, the difference between flying a plane and a helicopter is that the plane isn't trying to kill you! Sorry - totally unhelpful I know but perhaps this might help you?hummingbirdhelicopters.co.uk/how-become-helicopter-pilot/

I had a friend who was a helicopter pilot. It cost him (his wealthy parents) a small fortune and I don’t think he ever did it as a job, just a hobby. We were about 20 at the time so I can’t imagine it takes more than a couple of years.

Would Google not perhaps be better than AIBU?

I have had a fixed wing pilot's license but have no idea.

I love that you think Mumsnet is the best place to ask this question.
