With nearly all the results in, the conservatives have lost over a quarter of their councillors. Labour have lost about 3 per cent. Ukip have lost more than three quarters.
The BBC headline is that voters have given a rebuke to both main parties. The explanation being that "smaller" parties have benefitted. Seems to be the labour loss is disappointing, but nothing compared to the Tory losses. And Ukip have been almost wiped out, but that is barely being mentioned.
AIBU to think a more accurate headline would be that voters have given a rebuke to the right wing? With a swing not to smaller parties generally, but to pro European parties?
