To ask what salary is now?

I have applied for a job and got through to the second stage which I'm thrilled about. I haven't asked what the salary is and it wasn't on any of the job advertisements. Wibu to email them and just say im looking forward to next interview, but have realised im unsure of the salary and would be grateful if they could let me know?

YANBU

Why have you applied when you don't know the salary?

YANBU. I hate the fact that salaries aren’t advertised - what’s the point in applying for and interviewing for a job that pays £20k less than you can realistically expect to live on?

Flutra · 02/05/2019 17:51

I'm on just above the minimum wage now, shox, so it wouldn't make much difference if I knew or not.

Ah ok

Well definitely ask

Boils my piss when job ads say Salary: £Negotiable

Sounds like it wouldn’t hurt to ask (and ask for a few more quid per hour than you’re getting now)

Obviously depends on role/company, but I’ve found that when salary is not mentioned or is negotiable, then the further in the process you get, the more the ball is in your court when negotiating. Strange that they haven’t given a ball park figure though
