To think just keeping them alive is enough some days?

Looking for a bit of reassurance really! Had rotten viral-type illness for a week now which is getting worse. Exhausted, nauseous, sore...the works. Feeling like worst mother in the world as DC have had pasta for dinner every night cos i cant face cooking anything else and FAR too much tv. Today me and the toddler had a 3 hour nap cos I needed it & he just went along with it. No help as DH works away. But im keeping them alive (and at nursery every morning for some stimulation!) So thats ok...isnt it?

Everyone fed, nobody dead Grin.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 30/04/2019 23:36

Everyone fed, nobody dead

I like that!

StuckInsideAnEcho · 30/04/2019 23:37

@megletthesecond don't forget "roof over head" Grin

As Meg said. It's temporary. Get well soon.

Simonfromharlow · 30/04/2019 23:37

I think you're doing fine!!

Bestfootforward1 · 30/04/2019 23:37

You are definitely very reasonable. Keep up the good work!

ChrisPrattAteMyHomework · 30/04/2019 23:38

This made me smile.

We don't have to be supermums everyday.

That's what Netflix and takeaway is for. When mum feels like shite.

Mine get neglected that way at least once a month as I get migraines.

TheSheepofWallSt · 30/04/2019 23:38

@megletthesecond

That’s my saying too!
I picked it up from someone at an old job... you’re not TV industry are you??

QueenBeex · 30/04/2019 23:39

Yes, that's okay

NuffSaidSam · 30/04/2019 23:40

It's absolutely fine. Chuck some frozen veg in the pasta to make yourself feel better! Or serve with a cucumber/tomato starter (just plonked on a plate).

Go and see a doctor though if you've been ill for a week and it's getting worse.

Puffkin · 30/04/2019 23:40

All fed none dead is my mantra!

Bouncingbelle · 30/04/2019 23:48

All fed none dead - never heard that before but LOVE it!
Alternating throwing peas, sweetcorn & broccoli in the pasta to make myself feel better. The toddler has learned to use a fork at last cos i don't have the energy to feed him.. every cloud & all that Confused

thesheep no, I heard it on MN many moons ago Smile.

TheSheepofWallSt · 30/04/2019 23:55

Ah also OP- don’t worry about the nap. I persuade toddler to have a very long nap on one weekend afternoon a week (work during the week)- and if I’m lucky I get 3 blissful hours of sleep. Grin that’s with me at full health- and I give no Fucks.

julensaor · 01/05/2019 00:21

@megletthesecond

excellent! @Bouncingbelle, your dinners sound better than mine and I am in full health. Mind yourself.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 01/05/2019 00:24

It’s more than enough.

managedmis · 01/05/2019 00:26

It's totally fine.

Crisps, apple juice, splodge of pasta and half an Easter bunny here

Happy days

grincheux · 01/05/2019 00:33

nobody dead, everyone fed

Echoing this just in our house it's a bonus if everyone's had something more than an oven pizza some nights

TheBlackDogFollowsHim · 01/05/2019 00:34

Feel better soon OP! You’re doing a fine job. Get some rest and stop worrying

managedmis · 01/05/2019 00:36

(Also, to be the voice of reason, if you've got a virus that's getting worse after a week then you need to see a doc)

KateyKube · 01/05/2019 00:37

When we’ve had a bad night and I’m so tired I can barely sit upright, I’ve been known to stick DC in front of the telly with a bag of crisps. Ditto when I’m ill because I have literally zero support. Sometimes you just have to get through the day until you feel better.

Thequaffle · 01/05/2019 00:38

You’re a bloody hero in my book. Keep up the good work. Pasta? Delicious! Telly? Love it! Flowers Cake Wine Brew

PickAChew · 01/05/2019 00:48

If kids are clean, not hungry and not bored, they rarely care. You obviously needed to take care of yourself.

Willow2017 · 01/05/2019 00:48

You are doing great. Get well soon.

Wait till he is a teen the 'keeping them alive' bit becomes harder and harder some days. 😉

CheshireChat · 01/05/2019 00:53

Sometimes it's what kids need as well, DS felt rotten this morning so was allowed to lounge about all day in front of the TV (watching stupid toy review videos to boot!) and food was whatever he could stomach really. I mean, I carried him to the living room and the most he's walked is to the toilet!

Bouncingbelle · 01/05/2019 00:54

Aww cheers, feeling much more reasured that the DC wont be mute/have scurvy by the time im better now. I maybe have made it sound ok by saying tgey've had pasta for tea - and not mentioned the crisps for breakfast & perma-snacking on easter eggs. Actually got slapped cheek from one of the little darlings - think its a feel worse before i feel better thing. But if i could just get 48 hours uninterupted time to just lie in bed & feel sorry fir myself, i thi k i'd get over it quicker! #massiveselfpityalert
