Not AIBU, but feeling so so scared. My smear test came back with high grade changes. Hospital called today with emergency appointment on Thursday for colposcopy. Anyone with happy ending story?

I had CIN3 severe dyskaryosis and had a colposcopy during which they layered off the dodgy cells.

It was fine! Had yearly smears ever since and been clear every time.

It doesn't doesn't doesn't doesn't doesnt mean cancer. It's means pre-cancerous cells.

I also had severe dyskaryosis, 2 loop diathermy treatments over a couple of months, and now smear tests coming back clear!

The treatment isn't as bad as it sounds - don't google it too much, it sounds much scarier than it is. Just get yourself some diazepam and take a couple before the treatment, and a couple of ibuprofen.

I also had CIN3 and colposcopy almost 20 years ago. All fine since.

When my smear came back with changes I viewed it as a good thing - at least I'd gone to the smear test and caught it early! So everything was easily treatable. My smear results are now coming back as all clear.

I also had cin 3 cells and had a general anaesthetic LLETZ procedure. Have had 2 successful pregnancies since (shorter than average cervix but no problems). It's scary but they're pre cancerous cells and I feel lucky that such checks are done to help prevent cervical cancer - not all cin 3 cells lead to cancer anyway. Well done for going to your smear and they do normally act quickly to get rid of the cells not much waiting time they were surprisingly quick I found x

Happy ending here! Same as you plus a lletz procedure to burn out the offending cells. That was about 15 years ago and all smears have been fine since then xx

Thank you so much! The speed scared me. They called today with appointment on Thursday, NHS.
