Coming into the office with a cold

Genuinely curious what other’s stances will be.

The woman sat next to me in the office is coughing and sneezing a lot and all I’ve heard this morning is “how ill she is”.

We have a very flexible work culture and working from home is not an issue... we have the both the culture and the technology to do it quite easily at the drop of a hat.

I just don’t really want to get ill so it’s made me cross. But on the other hand, it is just a cold....

Tell her to/ask her why she isn’t working from home?

RosaWaiting · 29/04/2019 11:04

if she would have no jip at all from the boss about working at home, she has been thoroughly inconsiderate.

If that was my work setup (I wish it was!) I wouldn't come into work and risk making other people ill.

I so wish I was the sort of person who could ask her why. She hasn’t talked directly to me about it (just mentioned it in every phone call). I’m third trimester so I’m thinking I’ll be working from home myself tomorrow!

I personally would email her manager and complain that as her coming in despite being sick is putting others at risk and could they have a private word in case she feels she has to come in? Most managers would pass on the fb.

Normally I'd say that for a cold, you can't expect people to stay home. But if it really is not a big deal to just work from home, then I think she should have done that.
