I'm worried that my daughter will be bullied for having two mums. Am I being paranoid?

No

Antigonads · 28/04/2019 12:05

Possibly bullied. Possibly paranoid.

Depends where you live I suppose.

Anonymousmamasitaa · 28/04/2019 12:06

Araiwa so you think she will be bullied?

No you’re not, my son gets called gay due to attitudes of other parents at nursery school, he’s 3!

MumUnderTheMoon · 28/04/2019 12:08

No you aren't. But bullies will always find a reason to be bullies. I got tortured because my glasses where green. Dick heads will always find a way so you have to make sure you raise a secure and happy child who knows how much she is loved and how little the opinions of others matter. And you can do that.

My nephew has 2mums,he is now a young adult and was bullied a bit as he has red hair.
My sister thought there were going to be issues but they never materialised and both mums were accepted by nurseries, schools, other parents etc.

SleepingStandingUp · 28/04/2019 12:09

That's awful Simon.

She may get bullied for having two Mums or she could be the coolest kid in class. She could get bullied for having ginger hair or wearing glasses or having a lisp or having the wrong bag or the wring hairstyle or liking the wring PJ Mask. Or she might not.

All you can do is try to raise her with resilience, a knowledge that she can tell you anything and the security of being loved

araiwa · 28/04/2019 12:10

I dont think youre paranoid to consider it a possibility

Madratlady · 28/04/2019 12:11

It depends on all sorts I think, probably mostly the attitudes of the parents of other kids at school etc.

Changedmynametoolikeyou · 28/04/2019 12:11

Totally depends where you live and what the school is like. There are kids in my children’s school with two mums and no one bats an eyelid - although one of them was bullied last term because he doesn’t play fortnite 🙄
