Posting for traffic and need answers mainly out of fear..
Second from back molar on my right bottom has been causing me drama for a while. Back in November suddenly started with horrendous toothache out of the blue. Got an emergency appointment with nearest dentist. They looked at it and said it needed a root canal doing but they don’t do them as emergency so cleaned it out best they could put a temporary filling on and said make appointment with usual dentist. Went to usual dentist to be told he is no longer practicing and to find a new one! Easier said than done! Tooth was fine for a few weeks. Registered with a new dentist they said they would be in touch when taking on new patients. Had to go back to emergency dentist 4 weeks after first appointment again horrendous tooth ache. Same thing cleaned it out temporary filling. Fast forward to February and registered dentist now taking on new patients. In the mean time the back corner of my molar has crumbled off. Dentist says yes you need a root canal we’ll book you in. I’m a right wuss when it comes to things like this so tried to put my brave face on etc. Goes to root canal appointment after 3 rounds of anaesthetic I’m still jumping around in pain. Turns out I’ve got long nerves and the roots are extra long and twisty at the ends into my jaw bone. Lovely. Dentist says we can’t do root canal as one nerve is still alive. Cleans up temporary filling next appointment booked for this Wednesday (1st May).
Tonight the other back corner of the same bloody tooth has now crumbled off and it’s hurting again!!!! It’s basically falling apart in my mouth! What the hell happens now? Can I still have root canal? Will the whole tooth just disintegrate? Part of me thinks to have it out but how does that work when roots are long and curved like a hook into jaw bone?? I’m having a mild panic thinking about what’s going to happen.
To complicate matters I’m in the middle of an ivf cycle so not sure what painkillers I can have or if they will sedate me to have tooth out. I bloody hope they will because I don’t know if I can do it any other way if it’s still killing me after 3 needles of anaesthetic.
Anyone offer a hand hold to a big wimp and her dodgy tooth??!
