To be scared and anxious about this?

I finally managed to start my own cleaning business after being a SAHM for 5 years. I put an ad on gumtree 2 days ago and got two clients today, one who I’m due to see this weekend. I saved her number, and checked on WhatsApp to see if she had a picture or something but she’s not on WhatsApp. Yesterday a man texted me and asked if I was interested in some ‘fetishes activities ‘ and I’ll admit this is probably why I’m so anxious for the visit this weekend. I’m thinking what if this person is pretending to need a cleaner but has actually something else on the agenda. All I have is a name and address, and the thought of not knowing what I’m getting in to is making me so anxious. Just looking for some reassurance from MNers who are cleaners or have cleaners.

Our cleaners have just left so I'm sitting in a lovely clean house.
I'd say that the fetishes activities person was unusual and that most people will want a cleaner and nothing else.
My advice is that when you go to a house have a brief chat at the door and either go in to assess what work is needed or walk away. I'm sure you will soon have a group of decent customers who want a clean house and nothing more.

If you’re going to someone’s house then I’d always make sure someone knows your schedule like your DH has a list of where you’ll be and when.

I think the fetish guy is unfortunate but I’d say the majority of people just want their skirting boards cleaned (not a euphemism Wink)

Honestly - don't go to "fetishes activities" guy. sounds seedy and dodgy! Avoid. Something else will come along soon. Trust your instinct.

No one can reassure you as they don't know the person, as advised take sensible precautions before you go.

Realistically cleaners will always have to take new client meetings on trust.

Do you have someone who can go with you and wait outside for you?

Yes I'll let my DH know where I am of course, I just need to do it and just go with the flow. It's just scary. Thanks

Gumtree might not be the best place tbh
