Have they done this purposely?!

I left my last job on bad terms. I'd been there almost 10 years and in the end I was signed off for two months and then I handed in my notice.

My last official day was April 5th I was receiving childcare vouchers and assumed these would continue up until my last pay.

I received an email today saying my voucher had been successfully created. I then received another less than an hour later to say it had been cancelled. I queried this and my previous employer has cancelled the voucher and requested the money back.

From speaking to someone that left just before me, they didn't do this with her, so I don't think it's company policy. Could this have been done maliciously to try and put me out? Can they do that? I've no idea about any of it so maybe I'm thinking out of turn.

Childcare vouchers are just a transfer of cash from employer to provider and appear on your payslip.

Has the money for the voucher been deducted from your last payslip?

If so, they should produce the voucher. If not, no voucher is due.

What ‘money back’ are they talking about?

I'm not sure. The woman on the phone said it's been cancelled and a refund requested.

I won't get my payslip until Friday.

But can they cancel it without telling me?

I’d say wait for your payslip to see what they’ve done. It may be malicious, it may be accidental, it may be on purpose with good intentions.

Well, they can cancel it without telling you but they'll just pay you so whilst you'd lose a bit of tax, the vast majority would just go back into your pay.

I'd just wait until you got your payslip.
