ROBLOX bill run up by DD

Not only has she run up a £70 bill rendering me overdrawn (I shall ask the bank how on Tuesday) but I found out she had added her thumb print on to my iPad to facilitate her purchases.
She is 13.
Her money box will be emptied to reimburse me and jobs will be completed to earn money back to pay the rest off but will this be enough of a consequence? She has done this before and I honestly thought we were past this, AIBU unreasonable for asking for advice?
She currently hates her life & wishes she were dead. It's breaking my heart ....
But of background, she's not SEN but was diagnosed with a life altering condition last year which should be controlled by meds but they don't seem to be working and I was diagnosed with cancer at the same time but have just had the all clear. Don't want to drip feed but can't think of anything else which might be relevant.

Sorry to hear of the health issues you’ve both dealt with. I think your plan is a good consequence for her as at 13 she should know it’s not right to do that without permission. Change passwords/delete finger print and tell her if she attempts it again she will be banned from using it. They need to know the value of money and that helping yourself is theft.

Yep that sounds a reasonable punishment. Maybe no internet time or only supervised internet time for a while?

If it’s on the iPad you can set restrictions with a code and not allow in app purchases. Would that help? Sorry to hear she’s run up a bill. Sounds like you’ve come to a good resolution.

DD12 recently ran up £181 on “subscriptions” within various games. She was allowed to download free apps, and didn’t realise some had weekly costs. I was surprised Apple refunded the full amount and provided me with advice about increasing the parental controls.

angel how did you contact Apple?

My dd has done this twice! The most recent last week. First time I had to contact Apple with her at the side of me as they ask for all i cloud account details etc. I think my dd just signed into her account and the contact info is on there. I'm not at all familiar with I phones! She had used my debit card after I had given details previously for 1 small purchase and the phone had saved it. She was heartbroken as she didn't apparently realise these stupid apps charge and I was annoyed. It was over £100 and been going on for months. I hadn't even noticed!! They refunded it all. Phew. Last week she signed up for YouTube premium free trial and it took the money...off her card this time. She sorted it herself though and I tunes refunded her again!

Forgot to say definitely contact them. I said I never authorised the payments and at 13 a child should not be able to do that and they are liable as a company for allowing it to happen..

Thanks all!

Reasonable punishment but I'm going to be honest, I have no sympathy what so ever.

Either let children on your ipad or have a card attached for payment (especially when a fingerprint is all you need)
