To feel very sorry for myself (uti related)

Have had abdominal pain on and off for a few weeks. Put off going to the Dr as I was worried it could be a return of inter abdominal abscesses inevitable had previously.

Finally went this week and the Dr gave me just 3 days of Macrobid. I’ve only got one tablet left, to take in the morning and I feel worse if not better.

My lower abdomen is constantly aching, I think I’ve still got a temperature (he said I had one) and it has now stated stinging when I pee.

Paracetamol isn’t touching it. Not sure what I can do between now and Tuesday.

Out of hours? That sounds really rubbish. Flowers

Two solpadeine in a pint of water and a hot water bottle on your stomach are the only things I've found really help a bad uti.

If paracetamol isn't touching the pain you need something with codeine in it. Water only and lots of it. Hope you feel better soon. UTIs are miserable things Flowers

If it’s gone to a kidney infection MacroBid might not work. Ring 111 and get advice. I suffer with recurrent utis and take daily antibiotics under a urologist and macrobid are the worst antibiotics I’ve ever had personally although I know some do like them for utis. I always need cefalexin.

Thank you. We have an out of hours walk in clinic that I could go to tomorrow afternoon if needed. I look at getting some solphadeine.

Do go to OOH or walk in because if it goes to your kidneys it is horrible.

If you still have a temp and symptoms are getting worse then you need different antibiotics. Cystitis relief sachets can help with the stinging but even if they ease it you MUST get different antibiotics. Flowers

Some UTIs are becoming more difficult to treat and can become very serious. You need to see a doctor again very soon.

ImARocketMan · 19/04/2019 00:35

Another vote for OOH it sounds like you need more antibiotics. I had such a terrible time with UTIs in my early twenties I was put on a low dose antibiotic as well as being given diclofenac for when the pain was bad so if paracetamol isn't doing anything for you you could try an anti-inflammatory? IME the best thing to do was sit on the loo and keep drinking water while there to try and pass as much through as possible to force out the infection, also drinking cranberry juice and milk but they could have only been helping in my head! Grin Totally sympathise they are the absolute worst, hope you get sorted soon.
