Watching the great British school swap

And reading the comments on line with people saying they thought racism was dead they can believe children speak and think like this in 2019 Hmm have they not been listing to black and Asian people for the last 50 years about the racism they suffer.

I don’t think I know anyone who is black and Asian who is shocked or surprised those children hold those views mostly handed down from parents.

And I don’t think this is a working class issues my mil who is very middle class and white would never call someone a p☹️☹️☹️But would say something like what interesting hair you have and refers to my daughter having a tan she is mixed 😕

My only surprise is people think their is no racist people and those people don’t air their views

Racism stems from ignorance and fear.

Segregation, whilst unintentional, breeds ignorance and fear.

I’m with you, I’m shocked that anyone thinks racism is dead. I’d love for it to be, but even in ds’s primary school it’s a massive problem. He’s been called the n word, the p word and the racist word for Chinese people (yes, they can’t quite work out what race he is so they’re trying everything, it seems). I’m furious at the idiot, ignorant parents that think it’s ok to use this language in front of children. Clearly there are a lot out there.

There was also the attitudes from the Muslim girls about the way the non-Muslim girls dresses. "We wouldn't have a home to go back to if we dressed like that" Sad and "You cover up to keep away the bad things. Like a lollipop if you drop it on the floor and it has a wrapper on it, it's fine, but if not then you have to throw it away"

Racism is certainly not dead after I posted my DS9 neck yesterday on MN and there was some horrible comments about how hairy his back one arsehole even said he looked dirty. However there was some really lovely comments mixed in that could understand he was of asian heritage and could see this was normal.

It really made me realise as much as some prefer to use ignorance, it's not really an excuse.

We've all got television, but some choose not to accept that we all are different.
