Why is it so acceptable for women to be treated this way, if this was a hate crime against a race or religion people would be up in arms but because it’s a female issue nobody seems to take much notice

Nothing in that article suggests that people in general "find it so acceptible" - either in Bangladesh or here. As for it not being major news in the UK - so what? What will make a difference is how it's reported and acted on in Bangladesh. Outrage in Europe is neither here nor there.

I think women in general have terrible hate crimes against them across the world and nothing is done but if it’s a hate crime against religion or race people do seem to get more vocal and upset by it.
