Easter eggs vs Bar of chocolate

This is light hearted.

Off on the school holidays, got some wine and chocolate to share with my partner while watching GOT this eve.

I chose an Easter egg. He starts going on about how a bar of chocolate is much more cost effective and it tastes the same!

Well yes it probably is a bit cheaper and also I don't care. I also think it tastes a bit different. More exciting.

He is still chuntering about it now. Am I just a weirdo suckered into the marketing?

I’ve often been surprised to find that some Easter eggs are actually cheaper gram for gram. This got me way more excited than it ought. I don’t even eat chocolate bars really.

Cadbury’s Easter egg chocolate is my favourite! Their chocolate bars have changed yet again and the texture/consistency is horrendous. The Easter eggs are still creamy somehow and are the closest you’ll get to old Cadbury’s taste

whitehalleve · 15/04/2019 20:49

Easter egg chocolate is much nicer than a chocolate bar.

BlueMerchant · 15/04/2019 20:50

Agree Easter eggs seem to taste better than a bar.

StyleOfTheTimes · 15/04/2019 20:51

Plus they have the cute Easter chick design on them! 🐣

SophieGiroux · 15/04/2019 20:52

The texture of Easter eggs is so much better! Especially when they've been in the fridge and they crack as you bite into them. I'd rather a small Easter egg than a massive bar of choc for the same price.

Lowena · 15/04/2019 20:53

Cadburys easter egg chocolate is the best chocolate ever. Fact

-even though the rest of their chocolate has gone to shit-

cricketmum84 · 15/04/2019 20:53

I've always thought Easter eggs are better value than a bar of chocolate.

I would rather have one of the little £1 Cadbury Easter eggs (creme egg or buttons if anyone's buying) than a bar of dairy milk.

Raspberry88 · 15/04/2019 20:59

I love Easter egg chocolate and I'm really not too fussed about chocolate in general. I think it's because it's so thin and lovely and crunchy...yum!

I knew I wasn't being unreasonable!

I will not feel guilty anymore.Grin

I love Cadburys Easter egg chocolate far nicer than their normal chocolate I'm watching GOT eating a Reece's peanut butter egg.

prisscalledwanda · 15/04/2019 22:21

I'm watching GOT with an Easter egg too! Had to convince DH it was ok to start early. Glad I'm not alone

GlitterPixie · 15/04/2019 22:23

Easter egg chocolate is so much nicer than bars

Honeyroar · 15/04/2019 22:25

They are different. The eggs have more oil in them, I believe, so it mould better.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/04/2019 22:38

Until a few years ago, Easter eggs were a rip-off compared with chocolate bars - so much packing, so little chocolate but a premium price. However, I don't know what the driving force for it was, but now you can buy a decentish-sized egg for £1 in the supermarkets - and really nice-sized ones at 3 for a tenner so you can do a Sister Assumpta give two away to friends, they often do work out to be better value than a lot of bars.

Plus, they taste and 'feel' different and seem kind of special as you can't buy them all year around.

Having said that, a lot of Cadbury's 4-pack chocolate bars seem to be on semi-permanent offer for £1 a pack.

So, in conclusion: choose whichever you prefer and ignore any dissenters Smile

Lifeover · 15/04/2019 22:43

Think Easter eggs have move fat in them. It makes them hold their shape. Also makes gem more fattening than other chocolate gram for gram (also why they’re cheaper)

Futureisland · 15/04/2019 22:46

You can't roll a bar of chocolate down the stairs.....

Treaclepie19 · 15/04/2019 23:46

@stopitandtidyupp you can also tell your partner that my Easter egg cost £12 and I don't give one fuck.

(In my defence, it's the due date of the baby we lost in December, TFMR, so I'm allowed)

pinkground202 · 15/04/2019 23:54

Regardless of the chocolate I absolutely HATE it when people go on about value for money all the time, particularly over small items when the difference is mere pennies. My mother does this all the time, I try to ignore it as she's from the 'make do and mend' generation, but it really sucks the joy out of life.

Daisydad · 16/04/2019 00:00

Does anyone else put Easter egg in a lovely buttery sandwich? Or am I just weird!

CasperGutman · 16/04/2019 00:05

You're all wrong. It's still Lent. You can't have Easter eggs until Easter. Cheats.

Polarbearflavour · 16/04/2019 17:33

Cadbury Easter eggs are delicious. And 99p in Lidl!

stopitandtidyupp · 16/04/2019 17:40
