I am in the final stages of my (third!) degree, and I am experiencing a reaaaally annoying problem!
Due to various health issues (all that have been accepted as mitigating circumstances by university already) I have only just started an attachment (or placement) today, and i need to complete a large amount of hours by the end of June.
It is horrendous.
Without being too outing, the company paints themselves as being qualified/regulated to give the support they are giving - but they're not. Whilst they are trained to have given me my (inadequate) training, they are not qualified in this profession AT ALL.
I have seen things that allude to having no boundaries, and it's bordering on unethical, even I know that what they were doing in my profession would be considered a strike off offence.
I am not sure what to do.
This assignment is worth 15% of a module that is worth 15% of the whole degree. I am currently averaging 86.
I am worried about being "known" to the department as someone who always finds an excuse not to do work, but I am very unnerved by what I have seen today. There is a serious breech of my own standards, and I would almost certainly be struck off if I was carrying out this work with no qualified supervisor.
However, I am concerned on how to go about solving the problem! It is far to late now to source another placement - it takes a long time to find one (they're pretty rare), apply, interview, undertake DBS and train - longer than 6 weeks!
So far I have two options..
- How can I show to my uni that the placement I have found is unsuitable, and that it only came to my knowledge as being unsuitable today? I could ask for an extension possibly, but this would be a very long process - and what evidence can I provide?! It's surely just my word against theirs.
- Let them know the reasons as to why I cannot complete placement, and ask to have a condoned (??) fail
I'M SO STRESSED PLEASE HELP ME OUT
