To have been irrationally annoyed by this?

At the checkout at the supermarket loading up the conveyor belt...guys stands behind me with his trolley and (while I’m bent over in mine so can’t see him) places the separator thingy down and starts quickly loading his things on to the belt.

Erm...I’m not finished?! I don’t know how much room I still need but he somehow did 😂 it left me piling stuff up on top of things as he’d left me no room. I gave him a dirty look but wasn’t assertive enough to point out his rudeness Blush

I know it’s a very small thing but still...What things irrationally annoy you?!

That would infuriate me too! Last week I was in lidl and a woman asked me to let her go ahead of me. I always let one or two with small amounts go ahead but I HATE when they ask me. I like it to be my choice🤣
So I said no.
Well actually I said “why can’t you queue like everyone else?”Grin

Someone did this to me at Aldi last week. I just used the divider to shove their stuff back and make more space. They didn’t say anything.

NewIdeasToday · 15/04/2019 13:14

Why didn’t you just ask him to move it?
It’s not difficult to make your needs clear.

I don’t understand why people do this. I’ve found it happens more in Aldi than anywhere else but it’s weird and yes, makes me really angry.

The other week it happened but I’d intentionally left a bit of space at the front after the guy behind put his divider down so I’d manage to get everything on. The checkout person moved the conveyor belt before I’d finished unloading things so I was left to just pass things to her.

Are you still annoyed with him though?, or more annoyed with yourself?
I get my kids haircuts at the same place every time, and on one occasion, she overcharged me by £7. I felt really awkward, and thought maybe her prices had gone up, even though the pricelist was on the counter next to me but the next time she charged me the normal £7 cheaper price, so I was so annoyed with myself for being so unassertive. I find I'm more irrationally annoyed with minor things when I can't stand up for myself, and know that I should have!

YANBU. That is not how
checkout conveyor belt etiquette works. He knows this, he was just being a CF

I'm irrationally annoyed by people who are always non-assertive or 'non-confrontational'.

Lovestonap · 15/04/2019 13:20

Woman did this to me in LIDL. I did say to her, quite politely "actually I still have quite a lot to unpack". She seemed surprised by me, but I mean, come on! I had a trolley full, was I meant to tower it up?!

EleanorOalike · 15/04/2019 13:23

Yes, I’ve said something in the past, usually along the lines of “Please could you give me some more space, I haven’t finished unloading my trolley yet” and the woman and her husband became physically intimidating. It was late at night, I was alone and there weren’t many people around so I was afraid for my safety when I then had to go into the car park and unload everything. So I tend to judge things more carefully these days.

PuppyMonkey · 15/04/2019 13:25

This is definitely an Aldi CF tradition.

I had to have stern words with a woman who did it to me once. I told her to move the divider back a bit as I hadn’t finished. Her response was “leave it, it’ll be fine.” Hmm So I moved it back towards the end of the conveyor myself and she called me rude.Grin

You should certainly be annoyed with yourself for not saying anything OP.

Oohgossip · 15/04/2019 13:29

This was in Aldi!!😂

I’m not ‘always’ non assertive thank you, just on this occasion when I was caught unawares 😂

No need to go into full confrontation mode. When this happens I just smile winningly and say "Sorry, I've got more to unload and it won't fit in there, would you mind moving your stuff back?" It's worked so far.

SilverySurfer · 15/04/2019 13:42

If this happens I just push the separator back (and their shopping) so I have sufficient space for the rest of my shopping. Some give you a filthy look but I couldn't give a damn. No point being annoyed if you did nothing about it.

Theweasleytwins · 15/04/2019 13:47

I start loading before the person infront has finished, but give them 1 meter of space when they have like 3 more items in their trolleySmile

Biancadelrioisback · 15/04/2019 13:59

I push the separater back lol

Oohgossip · 15/04/2019 14:41

I did think about moving his separator back but something about the confidence with which he did it threw me lol
