The vast majority of fraud claims across UK banking are from innocent victims of fraud who have been targeted by criminals and organised gangs

The "fraud refund guarantee" will cover cases where customers are tricked into authorising payments to fraudsters, as well as unauthorised transactions

Obviously, great news for anyone who has lost money to fraud, but doesn't this open up a giant loophole for criminals? All they need to do is commit "fraud" with each other and TSB will cough up the "missing" cash?

Yeah, you'll get the cash. But presumably might not be educated in how to avoid being caught. So it's up to you if you want to take the fairly significant chance of being a convicted criminal.

It's not a road I fancy, to be honest

The criminals already seem pretty successful. They don't seem to be getting caught and TSB are taking the cash hit.

By announcing they will pay out on all future frauds too, I can just see this being a green light for criminals to take advantage of.

If only the threat of getting caught was more of a deterrent, we wouldn't have so much crime.

Ah, I get what you mean. I thought you were suggesting more people would try it, but I misunderstood.

I'm sure if tsb find that is happening, they will rethink.

Yeah sorry, I don't explain myself very well sometimes. I rattle on and go off on tangents. I think I may have ADD from stuff I've read Smile

I think tsb are trying hard to regain custom that they list when they had that huge it problem.

It's entirely possible this is part of that - but you know banks. They change their T's and C's all the time to suit themselves. This will be the same, no doubt.

Yes, that's true. They certainly have some PR work to do!
