To have told him to stop spreading germs

OH has a bad cold and is coughing constantly. He has kept me up half the night with it but I'm not blaming him for that as it can't be helped, as annoying as it is.

What's grating on me is how he's going about the place coughing making no attempts not to spread germs. Example, coughing and spluttering everywhere but not covering his mouth or washing his hands.

I pulled him up on it and it was like I had insulted his ancestors, he can't help being ill he says. That's fine, but at least take what precautions you can right?

AIBU to expect him to make an effort not to give us a bloody cold if can be helped, by this I mean cover his mouth then wash his hands when he coughs. Im not expecting him to be quarantined or anything. For context I'm 38 weeks pregnant and 1 year old DS in the home.

I agree with you. When I have a cold I make every effort to keep it to just me. It's not easy of course because those sneezes can just come from nowhere, especially when your hands are full.

YANBU. Whenever my DH is ill/has a cold I always ask him to make sure he coughs and sneezes into a tissue and wash his hands after and before may food. He is pretty good and will do it generally but sometimes he does cough everywhere and I have to remind him to cover his face.

I think it's a fair thing to ask that you take the most precautions you can to not spread germs about - at home or when out. If you still catch it after all that then that's fair enough.

P.S last time DH had a cold I asked him to sleep elsewhere as he was coughing in my face constantly through the night. He was fine with that.
