My partner, parents and I went shopping and we all headed over to the baby section not long after arriving at the store since my mother wanted to look at the newborn items since my brothers' child will be here soon. My dad suddenly pipes up and says to me: "Well, I think it is about time you put your hand in your bag and grabbed some paper notes." so I pretended I didn't hear what he had said and bit my lip otherwise I would have said something along the lines of 'they already have the majority of things they need and it isn't my child' to him. This isn't the first time my father has dropped little stabs like this towards me. I am planning on getting a baby care kit and a hospital bag or something of the sort just before the time comes since I know both of them don't have either of those things. My family and I don't get on apart from my mother who I'm pretty close to and my brothers' girlfriend has never once uttered even one word to me for as long as we have all known her. I don't care. They don't need to be in my life nor do I want them to be.

Honestly? You should have said that, I would have!

"Sorry Dad, I use text and email these days, I don't even have any notepaper" and walk away.

You should have said something.

Don’t go shopping with them then-your dad was really rude!
