To eat leftovers that were out overnight?

Last night I went to bed early, leaving a covered Tupperware of steak, potatoes and veg to cook down. Before I went to bed I asked my boyfriend to please make sure he put it in the fridge for me as he was staying up late anyway. He promised.

Went downstairs just now to find it sitting out. I’m on quite a strict nutritional plan atm for my health issues and that food was my breakfast and I don’t have anything else. The kitchen was quite cold and the lid was on.

Basically I’m asking any proper grown ups - can I eat this food or will I die???

I’m worried about food poisoning but also am in that weird emotional state where the leaving out of leftovers is almost making me cry.

I’m going to refer back to this thread every time I get myself into a food related panic Grin

I’m having stir fry I left out for lunch later (I have breakfast at 12) weird eating pattern

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 06/04/2019 14:43

I'd eat it and probably not even reheat it 🤷

Jamhandprints · 06/04/2019 14:48

I never put leftovers in the fridge til the next day. I've never had a problem.

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/04/2019 14:50

It was cold enough at mine last night for the kitchen to be colder than the fridge!

Aprillygirl · 06/04/2019 14:52

I've eaten left out overnight food dozens of times OP, and lived to tell the tale. Eat it.

LaurieMarlow · 06/04/2019 14:55

Absolutely fine.

People are ridiculously over anxious about food storage in this country.

bengalcat · 06/04/2019 14:58

I tend to leave leftovers out for up to three days - then eat it - the dog kid and I are still alive

Pinkcar21 · 06/04/2019 15:04

So far I’m still alive and kicking, and still full from breakfast so all good ✌🏻

I'd eat it.

VladmirsPoutine · 06/04/2019 15:20

Query, but why are you in such an emotional state; was it specifically linked to the food?

Pinkcar21 · 06/04/2019 18:30

I am very limited in what i can eat atm due to an elimination diet so basically if anyone messes with my food I will cry.
