Jacket to go over wedding dress?

Posting here for traffic.
I'm getting married 3 weeks today. Everything else is sorted but I need to find some sort of jacket to wear with my wedding dress! It's not going to be warm and hanging about getting photos etc I don't want to freeze and look horribly uncomfortable in any pictures.
I'm "alternative" I suppose (I have tattoos and a couple of piercings and will be wearing patent Dr Martens under my dress lol) and I've seen some lovely pictures online of people wearing cropped leather/denim jackets with wedding dresses or even a short fur jacket looks nice but I'm not sure! Any other suggestions to keep warm would also be good.
I've attached a couple of bad pictures of my dress if that helps.
I'm a size 18 so obviously that's another added struggle

What do they call those little half-cardi things - is it a shrug?

A silk or lined fur wrappy thingie?

Pashmina?

pushingdaisies · 05/04/2019 11:15

@PlainSpeakingStraightTalking that's lovely! Thank you!

Definitely a leather jacket that falls to your natural waist, I always think fur adds too much bulk, abs if you're 'alternative' as you say it'll add more personality

I wore a feather cape over mine.

If you’re already wearing doc martens you could definitely get away with a denim or leather jacket - arguably i’d say that would probably ‘go’ better than a really feminine stole or similar.

Do you have a ‘theme’ colour? You could maybe wear a jacket that colour?

Ultimately though - it’s your day and i’m of the firm belief that a bride always looks beautiful on their wedding day no matter what they’re wearing Grin As long as you love it and feel comfortable then wear whatever!

Socksey · 05/04/2019 11:20

How about a shawl?

pushingdaisies · 05/04/2019 11:21

We don't have a theme colour, DPs suit is pink though. But maybe a pink jacket would be a bit much? If I could even find one the same colour.

I just don't want to be cold but also want to look "right" if that makes sense

Btw... I got married in February in Scotland and had a strapless dress... I was so hyped up etc that no shawl or coat was needed... I did get some for the bridesmaids

Owwlie · 05/04/2019 11:23

I'd go with a leather jacket as you're wearing Dr Martens.

pushingdaisies · 05/04/2019 11:23

@Socksey I was thinking I may not need one with all the excitement but I'm worried I'll look cold haha!

If I had my time again I'd definitely go for a leather jacket.

Otherwise, how about this I love that it has a hood.

UserFriendly14 · 05/04/2019 11:32

I wore a lovely soft pink cardigan over my wedding dress in the evening. Google wedding dress with cardigan for some inspiration!

DorisDances · 05/04/2019 11:34

Once Upon A Dress near York do amazing embroidered denim jackets that would go well

pushingdaisies · 05/04/2019 11:36

@InMyBloodstainedSundaysBest That's beautiful! Thank you for the inspiration

any good?

pushingdaisies · 05/04/2019 11:44

@PointlessUsername that's nice but not in my size sadly!

@YesQueen something like that would be perfect if I had more time. Left it a bit late really haven't I haha but it was my idea to get married with only 4 months to plan. Damn my impatience Grin

I wore a leather biker jacket over mine. Studs and all. Similar to your dress, OP. Looked great and kept me warm!

spugzbunny · 05/04/2019 11:49

What about a cropped pale blue fur jacket

Or a leather jacket (faux for cheapness)

www.asos.com/prd/8644226?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

ASOS has a lot that you could order, try and return

spugzbunny · 05/04/2019 11:51

Oooo I like this one for the white with blue flowers

MissBridgetJones · 05/04/2019 11:57

Little biker jacket all the way.

loochery · 05/04/2019 12:03

What about this?

They also do it in baby blue.

Threeminis · 05/04/2019 12:23

@pushingdaisies
I got married in Scotland in November - did not feel the cold at all!

I'm not saying don't buy an over garment but don't spend too much - you might not need it. Best of luck for your wedding - savour the day, it goes so quickly
