I've got a Colposcopy appointment and I'm dreading it,high abnormal cells apparently.Ive heard horror stories about it being painful and bleeding lots afterwards. Will it really be that bad?

I’ve had a colposcopy in similar circumstances. There was a small amount of bleeding after for me (panty liner only) it was uncomfortable but not painful. I did have a few period like cramps after but norning too serious.

Hope all goes ok tomorrow Flowers

No. It's fine I have had it done. A little bleeding as previous poster said. I made the mistake of going to work after. Go home take otc pain relief and relax. Pain like period pain, uncomfortable but manageable. Don't worry Colposcopy itself is quick and painless. Good luck.

Ive had it too. Don't recall any bleeding or discomfort. Bit undignified yes, but no more than having a smear, which she also did for me at the same time as colposcopy - sure why not while she was down there Wink

I had one and, like pp have said, there was only a small amount of bleeding and not much pain, really. I drove myself there and back. Have a couple of paracetamol about half an hour before you go in. Also, take your own pad as the one I was given was like a mattress! Hope it all goes well. On the plus side, any smears you have after this will be a breeze!
