to expect an appointment at school within a week?

I want to talk about one child's report (secondary school) It's been more than a week and they haven't even given me a time yet. The exams are over so some years are not even in school. I know there is work to be done for the new intake but I see this as unprofessional. First time I've asked to see anyone at secondary school so not sure what the norm is?

They've probably forgotten about it - pure inefficiency, not overwork in any other department is my guess. You need to pester them a bit more.

Never email and expect an answer.

If you write to a specific teacher chances are they will lose the letter or will not even get it.

My own successes are via the phone to the school office. They have always passed on messages to staff and are willing to follow up queries and no-show stuff.

Depends if you want to see someone specific since at this time of year it's school trips, courses, appeals etc and they can be difficult to pin down. That doens't mean that you shouldn't have had a phone call to let you know this, which would lead me to think you've been 'lost' in the system.

It would be quicker to phone and say you would like to make an appointment with...the head? head of year? form tutor? Explain this is your second phone call so you'd like to fix up a specific date, which is usually in school hours or just before or after.

If no joy, the alternative is to write directly to the head, handing in the letter in person to the office, saying you have not had a response and how you found this a bit disappointing.

I saw the form tutor (in passing) a day or so after I sent the note and was told she wanted to speak to another teacher or two. So I know she got the message. That was a week ago.
