about DS3 when they're asking how he's doing...and I say he's wonderful, but sometimes very hard to settle and it's hard work doing the entire afternoon and evening routine on my own 5 days a week (as DH is at work) with all 3 of them??

They didn't actually say it today but a few days ago, but I've just thought of it now after I've spent the last 2hours trying to get him to sleep........infact he's been a bit of a PITA since about 5pm - he's had short (his choice) feeds on both breasts and I've wasted 5 bottles - as he'd have one ounce and then seem to settle down, and then - once the milk was too "old" and cold (he likes it warm despite our best efforts to get him to take it room temp) wanted another ounce or 2.......I reckon I've just chucked out about 20oz of milk.....which I only made up at 5pm.

Anyhow, I digress, what I'm trying to say that do these people not realise that a "tough" day with your children can be just as exhausting as a sleep deprived night.......infact give me a row of sleep deprived night anyday over evenings like tonight.

RANT OVER

poor you

also have a DS3 who has been very hard work over the last couple of days....

Re the school gate Mums..I honestly think that usually these people are just trying ti think of something to say and to be encouraging or supportive.

Hang in there

Kathyis6incheshigh · 11/07/2007 21:47

I suppose what they mean is that it could be worse and you could be having the awful days and awful nights.

3andnomore · 11/07/2007 21:50

aww.....what is it about 3. Children....
I feel for you, been there with my youngest, but like the otehrs say, people commenting like that really do mean well!
It will get easier, but sometimes it's ahrd to see the light at the end of the tunnel when you are bogged down with daily stuff....

fannyannie · 11/07/2007 21:54

I guess your right - they're actually really nice mums that I get on well with.......I think I just needed a rant . I think I feel worse as I didn't get to shower today (did have a wash honest so I don't smell LOL) so don't really feel I've "got started" partly my own fault that really though as I kept coming online to play games and MN instead .

Oh well DH will be home soon and once he's had his dinner he takes over until 4.30am so I'm nearly "off duty" (oh apart from the bottles I now need to redo........just as well I reboiled the kettle earlier )

sometimes a little rant does the world of good...just gets it all out of the system

fannyannie · 11/07/2007 22:00

very true (about the rants) and I'd rather do it on here than launch it all at DH when he comes in.......I'll still tell him what a pants evening I've had but it won't be quite such a 'ferocious' attack

How old is ds3 Fanny? If he's wasting the bottles, why not ditch them? Life's hard enough isn't it?

Sorry if too many qs.

fannyannie · 11/07/2007 22:29

Elastic - he'll be 7 weeks old tomorrow....he does usually drink all (or most) of the bottles just tonight he didn't seem to know what he wanted - wasn't even happy after having both breasts (typical bloke hey ).

Bottles are (in general) helping make my life a little easier too.

It can be hard with a new baby if you have older children, whether the baby sleeps well at night or not. I remember dd2 being hard work all evening and it was exhausting, despite quite good nights. But enjoy your baby while he's tiny, Fanny. They grow up all too quickly.
