Gp surgery lost my prescription request

After a consultation last week I was given a letter to take to my gp surgery so they could write out my script. Was told to come back 2 days later after 3 to pick it up. Unfortunately I was working all day so had to wait till Monday just gone to get it.
I get there and the receptionist told me that it hasn't been handed to the gp to sign and they don't know where the letter has gone.
She got my details up on the system and said she'd re order the medication but again I'll have to wait 2 days. Went back yesterday still not done.
I'm pulling my hair out. I need this medication. I've waited months and months for tests and consultations etc. Was so relieved to be starting them finally. I've had a few really bad days and not coping well. I really don't know what to do. The receptionist was very unhelpful and has just said to go back tomorrow but I am work (7-7) she just said that was my problem. Do you think if I rang today and was pushy they'd sort it for me before they close tonight?

Mine would because they can see it on their system, they'd at least give me a dose to tide me over.
But your receptionist sounds pretty dismissive. Its not really unusual for people to work or have other commitments, it it.

I would ring up and ask to speak to the practice manager, explain to her what has happened and see if she could please facilitate you getting your medicine ASAP as you really really need it ASAP!

Tbh I fully expected my consultant to write the prescription to take to the hospital pharmacy.
I know iabu now but I'm just thinking how bloody hard is it to just sign a sheet of paper. I know how busy they are I am also a hcp. I'm just so annoyed at the thought of waiting till Monday when I'm feeling so crap

@rosablue that might be an idea. I have terrible social anxiety and really don't want to cause a fuss but I think over a week for a prescription is ridiculous

Can they fax it to the pharmacy for you?

Your Gp should have received a letter electronically from the consultant explaining recommendations that were made and that he had issued you with a hand written note. Ask them to locate this if they still cannot find it

Definately a practice manager job. I had a very unhelpful receptionist tell me I couldn’t have my meds once, she told me I had to try my luck the following day when the appointments were released. If I was unlucky, I wouldn’t get it then either. The practice manager sorted her right out. It’s not for them to deny you the medication, it needs escalating.
