To ask about places to visit in Side, Turkey?

I’m going on holiday in a couple of weeks to Turkey and will be staying in Side, on the Mediterranean coast.

I’ll be staying at a resort-type place, so I’m sure there’ll be lots of things to do there, and I’ve heard that there some ancient ruins nearby, which would be good to visit.

Just posting here for traffic, if that’s okay, to ask if anyone who’s been there could suggest anything else nearby that would be good to visit?

Thanks :)

I’ve been before, the hotel was very nice, the shop owners were very annoying and pestered us no end. The ruins in the town centre are lovely and there are some nice places to eat.
I’d look at excursions through your holiday rep to see different places properly (if you have one).

I have been there. Roman ruins (amphitheatre), temple and a crypt full of skeletons are all within walking distance. The coastal path is nice. I loved it.

It’s been years since I went but I remember on the last day we took an excursion out on a gullet boat. The scenery on the coach as we drove along the coast to get there was breathtaking, the lunch on the gullet boat was lovely as well as being out at sea... would recommend similar if there’s a chance.

Hopefully your tour operator will have a selection of excursions to choose from. Have a great time.

The old town is much better than the resorts, been there twice many years ago, some nice restaurants in harbour area. They do pester you a lot to go in to eat and there are a few beggars around the ruins. Not too far away is the amphitheatre at Aspendos, also small museum just outside the old town, Manavgat waterfalls (small weir !) and market not far either. Loads of fakery goods everywhere!
