Child maintenance...ex not paying up

AIBU to be confused? Ex had been 'offering' to have the kids the odd hour or so over the past few weeks on top of his regular 2 nights a week to 'do me a favour' as he puts it....he's now told me that as he's done this he's not going to pay the full child maintenance....is he right to do that?

An hour or so won't make a difference! Maintenance will go on the amount of overnights that he has them. Has he had them for extra nights or just a couple of hours in the day?

Child maintenance is linked to over nights. So unless he had them overnight he needs to pay up.

Cms maintenance which is the legal minimum is based on overnights.

If he won’t pay unless he is self employed go to cms

This happens unfortunately. A lot. If ex’s think they can save a few pounds by opting for extra hours’ childcare, they will do it. If it just happens over a period of a couple of weeks with an extra hour here and there it absolutely does not mean he can knock a few pounds off his maintenance payments.

As above, it's based on overnights so if they have them for one night a week they can reduce the maintenance 'cost' by 1/7th and so on.
