To be mad at the school for withdrawing our sons after school care?

Basically it is over subscribed so without any warning they have taken days off some children and given days to new parents . My after school care has gone from 5 days to one. And I work. I have just written a snorter of a complaint to the headmaster I have no idea what we will do next year

omg I would be livid. if you have a place then you have a place surely, they can't just decide that x y and z can't come on certain days any more.

elastamum · 09/07/2007 21:09

That is precisely what they have done, not just to me. I rang another working mum and the same thing has happened to her

YANBU! Surely if it is oversubscribed it should be first come first served, and then a waiting list?! Hefty complaint letter needed I feel!

DaisyOink · 09/07/2007 21:10

That's disgraceful. First come first served with this kind of thing surely? It's also going to be unsettling for the children to have different arrangements on different days.

Have written complaint and will hand it to headmasters sec tomorrow. Am seething

OMFG TYhat is disgusting. Try making a private donation to the school - worked for my friend, got 5 days back within a fortnight. VERRY Sad but true.

elastamum · 09/07/2007 21:11

Also i will have to tell son he cant go as he loves it and was asking to go next year

We pay for the service, it is a private school and after school care costs extra

Ditto, and thats where money seems to talk loudest. Disgraceful.

LIZS · 09/07/2007 21:47

That's not on , after all you may well havev chosen the school partly based upon the after school element and will struggle to cover it otherwise. Can they not up the staff cover ?

mumeeee · 11/07/2007 16:08

YANBU. When DD3 went to after school club there was a waiting list and new parents had to wait until a place came up.

Lilymaid · 11/07/2007 16:12

As it is a private school you can tell them that you chose it because it offered after school care, you had been offered and received after school care for 5 days and they are (possibly) in breach of your contract with them for reducing it. Worth trying anyway ...
