To ask at what point do you consider someone almost the next age

I’ve always gone by when six months has passed since a persons last birthday they are almost the next age however I know some people don’t consider themselves to be almost the next age till a month before

Not until the day before. I'm not making myself older.

I think once you get past 80, you start giving you age as 'I'll be (my age plus 1) next birthday' instead of your actual age. Before 80 I don't know why anyone would do this.

No you not the age until your birthday so say if it's the day before and I'm asked my age I'm that age the next day I'm older . Why would you say you say 39 if you not 39 for another 6 months

About two weeks before

They’ve still got another half a year though, that’s nowhere near almost! For me personally about myself, it’s about 3 months before but it’s not something I tend to think about in other people. I’ve no need to make them older than they are currently. So, by your reckoning, is a 6 month old baby nearly one? Or a 45 year old almost 50?

For birthdays I say about a month before. But my OH has an annoying habit with our anniversary - say we have been together 10 years in June - by July he’s saying we’ve been together 11 years. When we haven’t! It’s been 10 years and 1 month! Really winds me up. Not sure why...

I think it depends on the context and what point you are trying to make, eg. "I'm only 38, that's not old!" or, "I'm 39 this year, I'm running out of time!"
