Hi, not really an AIBU post but need advice!

I prepped a bolognese sauce to put in slow cooker (browned mince, onions and mushrooms, added tomatoes etc.), Transferred it all to the slow cooker and thought I'd switched it on ..... I hadn't. So it has been sitting cooling in the slow cooker for about an hour and a half. I have switched it on high now and will
Leave it for about 7 hours. Will it be safe to eat or shall I chuck it?

Yeah, it'll be fine.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/03/2019 12:26

It will be absolutely fine.

I leave mine locked and loaded on a timer, still alive! Food tastes good Smile

Chuck it because the browned mince may not have been cooked all the way through. If it was a cooked Bolognese that had been left on counter top for an hour you'd be ok reheating ( as long as it was piping hot) or sticking it in the fridge and eating later but if mince was only part cooked I wouldn't..

No, it won't be ok on high for 7 hours!!

Turn it down to low if it's going to be that long.

My main concern would it be cooking on high for 7 hours, I'd have it at a lower setting. Depends on the slow cooker though. I reckon 8h+ on slow, 6h+ on med and 4h+ on high for a meat based casserole.

Noonooyou · 14/03/2019 12:38

Don't do high for 7 hours, maybe low/medium. But yes the meat will be fine!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/03/2019 12:39

Oh! Missed that bit. Start on high, to get it to 72degrees, sterilised. Then turn into down to low for 6+hours.
