Have you ever had Dejavu?
I was out in a fancy club last night with an old girl mate in a different city for work and we were in the loos and I got totally freaked out. I had really bad Dejavu. Like this exact situation of us being there had happened before. I told her and she was freaking out and saying she doesn't like stuff like that. Have you ever experienced this and what does it mean?

Yes all the time.

I have no idea if it's true but I did hear that the moment you're in and experiencing bypasses the part of your brain that registers something is happening in the present and instead the moment goes straight into your memory.

That makes sense to me.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 13/03/2019 21:32

All the time.

And “freaking out” Hmm I hope you told her to get a grip. Nothing is ever mildly odd or perturbing - it’s always horrific or freaky or terrifying.

BeautyWasTheBeast · 13/03/2019 21:33

Yes I get it occasionally...got it the other day and it made me stop and look around confused because i was certain I had seen the exact same situation with the same people/pets.its a very strange feeling at the time.

GlitterPixie · 13/03/2019 21:34

Yes I often get vivid deja vu and in really random situations too like being in a country I’ve never been in before this

Itwouldtakemuchmorethanthis · 13/03/2019 21:35

Yes, when I’m tired or very stressed. It’s nothing to freak out about.

Onceuponacheesecake · 13/03/2019 21:35

Yeah quite frequently. Usually in entirely mundane situations.

camelfinger · 13/03/2019 21:36

Very rarely now, used to have it quite a lot as a child.

DaedricLordSlayer · 13/03/2019 21:37

errr yes.

I would say it's not unusual just notable when it happens. nothing freaky

DaphneFanshaw · 13/03/2019 21:38

Confused why all the freaking out ?
I thought everyone got it, like a pp said, I thought it was to do with the brain bypassing passing parts of the brain.

EnglishRose13 · 13/03/2019 21:39

I don't think so, but I could check with the kitchen.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 13/03/2019 21:39

I have it very frequently. Stress and/or tiredness make it worse. It’s a very strong feeling, and I also know what will happen next in the situation.

Helga55 · 13/03/2019 21:40

Sometimes get it, it's probably just a glitch in the matrix

Belindabelle · 13/03/2019 21:41

I used to experience it all the time. Not so much now I am in my late 40’s.

pinkmagic1 · 13/03/2019 21:41

Have dreamt situations a few times that happen exactly like the dream in real life. That is weird.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 13/03/2019 21:45

Yes. More so when I was younger and mostly triggered by people rather than places.

It's just a glitch in the Matrix Grin

MyAuntyBadger · 13/03/2019 21:51

Yes, about once a year for as long as I can remember. It doesn't bother me.

DaphneFanshaw · 13/03/2019 21:51

Grin I always think of the matrix when I get it.

HighestMountains · 13/03/2019 22:02

Yes, and I get it both the first and second time the situation happens. I have a sense the first time that it'll happen again, so mentally note the details. Sure enough, it'll come round again, sometimes months later, sometimes years, with the same details. I admit I am quite a woo person & expect most people will think I'm talking shite but I'm interested to know if anyone else gets this.

MamaWeasel · 13/03/2019 22:02

Quite often. I just think of it as one part of my brain working faster than another, so as pp said, the slower part of the brain sees it as a memory. Weird. Kinda trippy!

Dragonfree · 13/03/2019 22:04

Didn't you just ask that??

Grin

Couldn't resist....

Hippywannabe · 13/03/2019 22:09

I do quite often experience this, for me, it feels like a blip in time and comes with a fleeting knowledge of what happens if I do X next. I get the feeling of having done exactly that before and what the consequences were. I find it odd but not frightening.

RunningNinja79 · 13/03/2019 22:09

yes fairly often. I like it. Never heard that explanation about the brain, but it makes sense.

atlastifoundit · 13/03/2019 22:15

Not so much these days, but I used to get it a lot. Once already this week, but I can't remember what it was now!

YeahYeahYeahFineWhatever · 13/03/2019 22:18

Yup, sometimes ordinary deja vu, seem to remember being exactly here with same person discussing exact thing, same clothes on etc also it’s sometimes double as in I rememberhaving deja vu about it before
Sometimes dream deja vu - remember a place from in a dream, can usually remember other parts of the dream and when I had it (at uni when Ilived in x place in the winter and had just had my hair cut short, that kind of specifics)
Could all just be a trick of the mind, IDK.
I’m very ‘remember-y’

FiveLittlePigs · 13/03/2019 22:21

I do this. It makes me go shivery when I realise!
