That would mean at least 22 months between c sections. I would be heavily pregnant around 19 months after the last c section - does this sound sensible?

I was pregnant 9 months after my csection. I was fine

I was 16 weeks - its fine

I was 18 months between sections. Midwives and consultants didn't seem concerned at all

I believe you would be increasing the risk of your uterus rupturing during delivery which can be very dangerous for both you and your baby. I think there are guidelines but can't remember the gap they recommend.

There are 54 weeks between my two c-section babies.

Not the easiest thing to do, but no one told me not to and, in my eyes, I was running out of time (39 2 days before DS was born).

If you can wait, your body would have fully recovered and will recover quicker.

Someone might feel OK but you don't know what's happening internally and how it might impact on your long term health.

The Section and the age gap, unless you have help, of course, is putting your body under a lot of pressure.

But if you and your older Baby have others around you, then you'll manage.

You can opt for a second section. One woman on my ward was on her 7th. madness

I'll definitely be having an elective section for the second baby.

What's the recommend amount of time between sections? And is the recommended gap between the actual births, or between the previous section and conceiving?

I did exactly that. It was fine

15 months between sections and everything was fine.

I thought it was advised to wait a year before getting pregnant after a section? But I’m vary wary as I had a nasty infection in my wound and I’m terrified of it exploding or something (obviously I know it won’t but still!)

I was told to wait 6 months before getting pregnant again. Was told this the morning after and was in agony, assured the registrar that I didn't need contraception advice at that point

I was told to wait at least a year ideally two. But stopped BF and fell pregnant at ten months as mucked up my dates. It was fine!

My mum got pregnant 4 months after a section. All fine. Mind you she did get bollocked by the doctor for not waiting longer.

@cakesandphotos They do advise a year but no-one said anything once I was pregnant again. I too had a nasty infection first time but this time I feel ok so far.

I had an EMCS last year and was advised to wait a year, so you'd be fine by that guide.

Well obviously, it wouldn't have been much help then!

So a lot of people have been told a year, so even if I fell pregnant straight away it would be at least 14 months after the previous section.

I was advised that two years would be ideal but I wanted my second before 40 ideally so tried the month DD1 turned one thinking it might take a while so a 21 month gap for me. They did say that because of that gap/my age/the fact I didn't labour with my first that they recommended an ELCS because of increased uterine rupture risk.

I had my second c section 14 months after first. Then a three year gap, and then my third and fourth were 19 months apart.

I was sterilized during the fourth c section.

I had 2 sections 15 months apart, so I was pregnant 6m after first section. No complications, but opted to have tubes clipped during second section. (3rd child)

I've had all of my 3 dc by c section - there are 13 months between dc1 and dc2 and 22 months between dc2 and dc3. They were prepared to allow me to try vbac both times (but I decided against). Looking back, it probably wasn't the most sensible thing to do - we all got through the pregnancies and deliveries safely, but it has taken me a long time to regain my core strength and several of my mineral stores were low after back to back pregnancies and bf (bf each baby into subsequent pregnancy). That said - I wouldn't change a thing!

They told me two years but I've had a laparotomy before so that might be why.
