...to schedule the bin lorry to collect rubbish from an area of narrow Victorian terraced streets with car parking along both sides, where there is also a large primary school, at 8.30 in the morning? I try to be present a civilised and reasonable demeanour to the world most of the time but stuck in a queue of cars, with nowhere to go and no room to reverse, for 15 minutes challenged this considerably. Is it worth ringing the bin company with suggestions (polite of course)?. After 9am might be a good idea for example.

Is there a different route you could take? Or a street nearby where you could park and walk the rest of the way? That's what I do on the day that the bin lorry collection coincides with a nursery drop-off.

Probably mummydoit. My 2 can walk to school alone now so I think I will have to encourage them to do that on a Monday and just take DS#2 to nursery before I go to work. But I still think it's crap planning.

Definitely crap planning. Like our council who scheduled roadworks that involved closing the whole road outside one school for the past two weeks. Couldn't they have waited a couple more weeks and done it in school holidays?
