In getting really annoyed at neighbour poking around in my garage?

We live in a cul de sac safe enough for DS's to play outside with minimal supervision.
Neighbour from over the road is often out with his DS's age 5 and 18months.
I am getting really wound up with him traipaing all over my garden hanging about my drive and poking around my garage.
he stands ther while his youngest pulls all my stuff out of the gargage walks around my car waving my broom and then doesn't bother to put it all away!

Close your garage door.

mytwopenceworth · 08/07/2007 20:56

Lock your garage.

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 20:57

He also stands on my drive looking into my house.
I was sitting having a nice cup of tea to see him having a good old nose through the window.
My other neighbours think it is odd, but I am getting really ppissed off with it.
Don't care if i am unreasonable just neeeded to rant.
Phew feel better for that.[

Twiglett · 08/07/2007 20:57

so go and talk to him

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 20:57

I can't shut the garage cos DS's have their toys in there and want to play with them.
Once DS's are in I do go out and lock it all away.

Go out and say "are you looking for something in particular?"

mumto3girls · 08/07/2007 20:58

Go out and ask him to leave your garage alone

fingerwoman · 08/07/2007 20:59

I would just go out if i saw him out there and say "hello, can I help you?" or something like that.
and leave the garage door shut

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 21:00

So you don't think I am being petty?

OP posts:
fingerwoman · 08/07/2007 21:02

no, he sounds very strange.

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/07/2007 21:03

YANBU....it would drive me nuts.....I would tell him politely that I'd rather he and his DD kept out and then put some gates on your drive and keep them closed, but not locked so the dcs can get in and out. the barrier might just be the right amount of deterrant.

ProjectIcarus · 08/07/2007 21:05

tell him to get to feck. How rude.

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 21:06

The cul de sac is ver open plan , no fences or hedges. All the kids in the street tend to play in my front lawn which I don't mind.
But neighbour is always stood over the kids right in front of my window.
Daft thing is I know if it was the other way round him and his wife would get really bothered by it.
Am tempted to put a deckchair on their front garden to see how they like it.

ruddynorah · 08/07/2007 21:07

he probably thinks you don't mind seeings as you don't tell him.

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 21:09

Haven't said anything sooner as thought I might be being petty.
But today it has really annoyed me and if it is going to happena ll summer long am going to have to braoch it. Will have to send DH out to tell him to get lost. ( i am so brave)

A neighbour has two or three of those fly curtains (loads of plastic strips) across his garage so you can't see in when he has the door open. That might work as the kids could still get at their toys.

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 21:19

Chippy what a great idea.
He might get the hint.
When kids are out front I like to leave front door open so can hear them.
Have to close it to stop his children wandering in

OP posts:
lisad123 · 08/07/2007 21:21

why dont you get kiddies toys out of gargage for the day and then shut the doors.
I would be seriously hacked off, tell him to bugger off.

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 21:26

Lisa I think I will have to do that. Will be a pain, but I amm going to lose it otherwise.

OP posts:
mytwopenceworth · 08/07/2007 21:29

Why not go and sit outside with your kids when they are playing, see what he does then. Perhaps your presence will stop him coming over the road.

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 21:31

Tried that .. he just wants to talk and talk and talk.
Same subject EVERY time.

OP posts:
lisad123 · 08/07/2007 21:39

maybe fancies you

mytwopenceworth · 08/07/2007 21:39

What subject??

DoubleBluff · 08/07/2007 21:43

House prices in the area. (yawn)
Oh Lisa don't say that!

OP posts:
mytwopenceworth · 08/07/2007 21:46

zzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzhuh? eh? oh sorry, nodded off there.

Bloody hell fire. Poor you.

His wife must push him through the door and lock it behind him!!

Put up a big fence and gate and bolt it from the inside whenever you let your kids out.

Or put a banner up saying

PISS OFF
