to ask who you bank with any why?

I've got accounts with Barclays and NatWest. Now I have a son, I want to open a junior ISA for him. I want a good one with good rates but also want to transfer all my money to the same bank so it's all in the same place. Not sure how easy it is to do but sounds stressful...

Any bank recommendations? I'm not massively enamoured by Barclays, NatWest is ok...

I'm with Natwest and wouldn't leave, been with them since my dad set up a savers account for me at 14. I have never had issues with them and their od usage is not charged at a perday rate.
Have been with Halifax as a joint account with an ex which I just had issue after issue with. Although my mortgage is with them and very good!

I'm with Natwest and Tsb. They're both ok I've been with them for years. I'd never have all my money in one bank. Both of them have had issues with customers not being able to access their money. This hasn't affected me as I just used the other account.

Nationwide, have a local branch in small town, staff are really helpful. Use online banking with no issues.

I tried to switch to first direct as I've heard good things. I couldn't switch, they wouldn't tell me why, my credit rating is 'excellent' 🤷🏽‍♀️

Santander 123 for cashback and 1.5% interest. It's my current and savings account. I also have reward accounts with Halifax and BOS for £2pm each cashback and a packaged account with Halifax for travel insurance and breakdown cover.

First direct. They answer the phone within 3 rings. You get to talk to a charming Scottish person. Never seem to makes mistakes.

I was on the phone to them once and happened to mention that I was having an operation - they sent me a lovely box of crocs!

I would never ever bank with Santander for anything again. had a horrendous experience with them a few years back - Have products with Natwest and Halifax and are more than happy with them.

You get interest on money in your account and you get cashback on lots of direct debit items. Bills, mortgage, etc.....
No idea what their ISA's are like though.

I just set up a trust fund type thing for my DD when she was born.
It was with One Family.
Great return. At 21 she has a nice amount in her account now.

For some reason I always had trouble logging into the NatWest banking app.

Plus they made such a meal about our mortgage application, insisting that it wouldn't be be accepted.

We tried Halifax where the mortgage advisor was like 'Why wouldn't your mortgage application be accepted, we do these all the time!'

So NatWest were a bit incompetent.

I'm with Nationwide and have been for years and I'm very happy with them. Prior to that I was with HSBC (who are ok but not amazing).

I've done a lot of work in the banking industry (trying not to be too outing here) so know the main players and their capabilities (or lack of) pretty well. I wouldn't touch Barclays with a barge pole. NatWest are pretty inept.

If I was opening an account today, the only places I'd consider would be Nationwide or First Direct.

I had a number of accounts where I’d deposited my house sale proceeds with the Halifax/Bank of Scotland (HBOS) group and Lloyds/TSB, all of whom I later discovered were part of the same group. Never, ever, ever again. Halifax wrongly recorded my landline telephone number which meant that I couldn’t pass security due to their error. They then blocked access to all the other accounts. They refused to discuss anything at all over the phone so I took the afternoon off work to go to my local Lloyds branch where I spent over an hour speaking to an extremely rude and aggressive person in their security team who, despite the fact that I had brought my passport and utility bills into the branch as identification, refused to accept I was who I said I was. When I tried to challenge this, she simply said she wasn’t prepared to discuss it further and put the phone down in me. I nearly lost my house purchase as a result.

Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Lloyds TSB, Birmingham Midshires. Never, ever, ever again.

I bank with Lloyds because I work for the banking group. No other particular reason however their online banking app is amazing. We get most people transfering their banking from hsbc & Santander after issues with them

I've always found Skipton BS the best, oddly. I have absolutely no connection to Skipton the place but now do whatever I can through them and the lovely accents on the helpline don't hurt either.

First Direct - I cannot rate them more highly. The customer service is amazing - respond promptly, staff well trained and go over and above. For example a member of the credit card team was willing to assist of required when a plumbing company I had used failed to install correctly. Also of they don't know an answer they will take the time to find out so you get the right information.
Only negative is their online banking is a little basic but I have seen worse. My opinion is Lloyd's have the best online banking.

I joined First Direct after leaving Lloyd's Bank - horrendous call waiting times, especially at weekends and their staff both in my local branch and on the phone provide incorrect information - horrendous when its your money and investment decisions.
For example, advising I could close a joint account by going into branch with my passport. When I arrived with my passport in branch it turns out I actually needed to complete a form and the closure would not be instant and my partner would also need to complete and sign a closure form meaning we had to go back into branch again at a later date to arrange.

I've used Legal and General for savings and they would not transfer the money to my new savings provider (Halifax) without paying a fee and neither would the transfer be 'instant' (instead up to five days). I ended up needing to walk through town with thousands of pounds in cash to pay into my new Halifax account. Not ideal!! They are very old fashioned and their systems and online banking dated and tedious.

I like Atom for ease of savings investments and their app. No fuss and easy to use.
