...James Blunt?"

Don't get me wrong, I hate James Blunt as much as the next person (maybe more, he's very creepy) but DP has bought it for DS and I feel a bit funny about putting DS in a slogan t-shirt like this. I'm not entirely sure why.

HOw old is DS?

bohemianbint · 08/07/2007 08:22

ooh yes, I agree, I don't think I would like that either but like you - not sure why just doesn't sit right with me.

FrannyandZooey · 08/07/2007 08:25

LOLOL that such a thing exists

NYANBU, it is s a bit dodgy to use your pre-verbal child's chest as a billboard for your own personal beliefs, plus "I hate" something is not the kind of sentiment you really want to ascribe to a innocent little baby

bohemianbint · 08/07/2007 08:26

I was wondering if it was because it's such a negative statement (although I agree!), or if it's because I don't like the idea of actually directly placing opinions onto him....or because I'm just a bit odd?!

McDreamy · 08/07/2007 08:27

I think Franny has summed it up for me especially the bit about the phrase "i hate..." I really dislike that phrase

bohemianbint · 08/07/2007 08:28

I agree...How to tell DP without offending him?!

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 08/07/2007 08:31

Hmm ah well I don't know about that, I don't do tactful.

McDreamy · 08/07/2007 08:32

I would probably let him wear it around the house and then change it when we went out - how much of a cop out is that?

I think it is the hate thing, isn't it? I mean if it said "I love the Velvet Underground", for instance, I would find it ok and it could also be true - ds loved all sorts of music when he was this age

It is a funny t-shirt, I can see why your dp bought it, but it is a bit cynical and kind of putting an adult joke on a baby's body

calordan · 08/07/2007 08:35

I would accidentally shrink it or dye it.

newlifenewname · 08/07/2007 08:36

Not very nice but it could've said something faaaar worse judging by the names JB is often to referred to as.

Now, that sentence was very gramatically wrong.

amen · 08/07/2007 22:58

honestly i think you are being unreasonable.your baby has no idea what it means and your husband obviously just thinks it's funny. i understand why you might not like it etc and if you say it to your partner and he agrees then fair enough.but if he disagrees i wouldn't make a big issue about it.

jaynehater · 08/07/2007 23:05

I just bought my friends baby a t saying 'i appreciate the muppets on a more fundamental level than you' you could distract him with that?

The perfect solution

Put son in said t-shirt at home
Feed ds banana & carrot puree
get all over t-shirt
'oh dear carrot and banana stain'
never wear out of house

jaynehater · 08/07/2007 23:14

S'alright, I don't love my name either!

I'm sure 'James Blunt is really boring' would be more appropriate- lol. Love the carrot puree idea, that's what I would probably do too!

LordPan · 09/07/2007 00:09

My friend's baby, aged 6 months, has a t-shirt reading ' i-pood'.
