OK, IA probably BU - but I'm still cross with DH and need to vent!

First baby due in six days, so slightly on edge (for background).

DH goes off to get haircut this morning. He got it cropped six weeks ago, something I wasn't sure about but ended up quite liking - however, I did say at the time that I thought it shouldnt be any shorter at all as his hairs quite thin and it would look awful.

But as soon as it was cut he started saying he wanted to try the No3 (shorter). I have been saying PLEASE don`t every time he mentioned it for the last six weeks.

And this morning he got it anyway. And sure enough it looks AWFUL (you can see his scalp). So when our LO - hopefully - arrives safe and sound in a few days DH is going to look a right eejit in all the photos. And I`d begged him not to, all he had to do was stick with the slightly longer version.

And now he is upset because I hate it and I said so. And I know it`s his hair and not my decision, but AAAAAAAAAAARGH GRRRRRRRRRRR...

Ready - well, we have the room finished, the pram out, the bags packed, the clothes washed... all we need is the baby. On the actual birth front, am torn between wanting it safely over with and cacking myself. Not sure "ready" is right/possible word there...

Mind you, would far rather have baby tonight and sh*t hair in the pix than be pregnant much longer!

is this your 1st moorhen?

lilolilmanchester · 07/07/2007 18:33

if you're anything like I was, impatient and bloody uncomfortable at this stage! My midwife came to visit and told me "pineapple, curry and sex is what you need my girl".... went into labour an hour after she'd left and couldn't quite convince her I'd not been at it like a rabbit with my DH! Last thing on my mind, I can tell you!

Janitor, you are far more organised than me - I only packed my hospital bag last week! Only outfit I have planned is the baby`s.

the thing that drove me mad with ds1 was people getting bloody ringing me and asking 'have you had it yet?'
Really wanted to say 'yes, actually, last week sorry, did we forget to tell you?'

get dh to pamper you whilst he can. Foot massage, nice hot food -all the things that will go out the window once the baby's arrived!

Good luck with everything.

Yeah, am getting the Have You Had It question. I mean, what?

Also:

My parents dropped round today. While Mum was in the bathroom, Dad said "FGS dont go overdue, your mothers already like a cat on hot bricks."

And my aunt is visiting from Germany, arriving on my due date and leaving ten days later.

My PIL are visiting from Up North exactly one week after due date. They are visiting DH`s brother and will drop in on us rather than staying, but still...

...feeling under some pressure, here...

Your baby might not be here for a couple of weeks (first babies notoriously late, sorry) and it will have grown back quite a lot by then, honest

I do sympathise, dp does his own and is the same - he likes it short and almost completely shaven, and it looks a dreadful mixture of thuggish and mental patient for the first week or so. I have asked him not to do it quite so short, and he usually respects my feelings - I would be hacked off if he did it just before a big event like this as well, I must admit.

muppetgirl · 07/07/2007 18:53

my ds was 11 days late...

do family 'forget' these things?

FrannyandZooey · 07/07/2007 19:03

My mother asked if I could arrange to be induced on a certain day, because it would be more convenient for her to visit that weekend

I was only a couple of days overdue at the time

Moorhen · 07/07/2007 19:10

Franny, ! Was she serious? At least my dad was (mostly) joking!

I think they do forget. Either that or they are ALMOST as excited/nervous as we are and just want it all done with.

Am due next Saturday (six days mentioned in OP clearly wishful thinking, sigh). I just want to meet our LO...

And should perhaps also mention in interests of justice that DH is in every other respect a complete paragon, sensitive and thoughtful as you could ever want, and is currently cooking a v delicious lamb stew, the smell of which is nearly making me dribble. Roll on dinner.

FrannyandZooey · 07/07/2007 19:30

Oh yes, quite serious

LoveAngel · 07/07/2007 19:46

Yes YABU, but you are heavily pregnant and I remember acting like a complete fruitcake and caring about completely meaningless things at that stage (although I would have screamed at anyone who dared say that to me!). Relax...its only a haircut, it will grow back. As penance, he should give you a foot massage and make you breakfast in bed every day until the baby is due!

p.s. eventually he will learn that you are always right...

muppetgirl · 07/07/2007 19:48

you see...?
Great minds think alike -the foot massage thing again
