I'm at my wits end!

I've just read "I'm at my wicks end"

Which makes so much more sense then "I'm at my wits end" which is what I've been saying all my life.

Which one is correct?! 😮

I thought it was wits end. That’s what I’ve been muttering all my life Grin

Wits’ is correct. I don’t see how wick’s makes any sense!
Wits’ end means at the end of your sanity. It’s driving you out of your wits, or out of your mind.

How does wickes end make more sense?

Frecklesonmyarm · 03/03/2019 19:58

Hhahhaha my phone changed wicks for wickes.....not sure what the DIY shop has to do with it. Grin

I agree but perhaps you can also be at the end of your —candle— wick so about to be in total darkness?! Grin

Alison100199 · 03/03/2019 20:09

I sometimes feel at my wickes end when buying paint...Wink.

pickletickled · 03/03/2019 20:11

I've always said Wit's end.

STOPSCRATCHINGTHECRADLECAP · 03/03/2019 20:41

I'm glad I haven't been saying it wrong!

The reason I thought it made more sense was because I was imagining the end of a candle. All burnt out, the end of the wick.
