Illest I have ever felt

Yesterday I woke up with a fever, sore chest and arms pits and sore groin. Got progressively worse during the day and by 4pm I was 39.9 and delirious. DH had to come home from work and look after 1yo DS.

Went to bed at 8 and slept until 7am, DH has gone to work and my temp is down but still feel lousy, no energy, tight chest. Can’t catch my breath when coughing.

I’ve just woken up from almost 3 hour nap, luckily Ds slept the whole time too. Still feel rotten and running a temp of 38.4 despite taking paracetamol and ibuprofen.

I’m guessing chest infection/flu ? I swear I’ve never felt this bad before, close was when I had a kidney infection. AIBU asking DH to come home from work? Also, do I call the docs or not? I know they say chest infections get better on their own.

Eh no, most chest infections don't get better on their own, where did you hear that? Confused. If it's the flu there's not much the doctor can do but if you're short of breath and/or coughing up green crap you need to see a doctor.

No, Yanbu getting DH to come home and it would’ve probably been an idea if he’d stayed at home in the first place given how ill you clearly are. Confused

I’d definitely call the GP to go through those symptoms, they might at least do a telephone consultation. Get well soon

Your symptoms sound very similar to how I felt 3 weeks ago. I honestly don't think I've ever felt so ill. After 4 days I got a doctors appointment (telephone consultation first but they said i needed to go in) and was diagnosed with a horrendous chest infection (actual words used by the doctor). It took 3 lots of antibiotics and another 2 appointments to finally shift it but I'm still really not 100%. Thankfully DH took a couple of days off (something he's never had to do) as I couldn't get out of bed to do the school run for DS or look after DD.

A chest infection will only get better on its own if it's viral. If it's bacterial you will need antibiotics. If you're coughing up green phlegm that's a sign it's bacterial.

I've never had a chest infection and really hope I don't get one again anytime soon!

Phone your GP, see what they say and take it from there. I hope you start to feel much better very soon.

I had a bad chest infection recently - I rang my GP surgery and they squeezed me in that same day - very quick appointment and meds soon sorted me out.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Call the doctor please

itsasecret1 · 01/03/2019 17:00

I went to the doctor, you were all right - severe chest infection. Got a weeks worth of penicillin.

I’m so annoyed with DH, I had to book him a Uber and tell him to get in it to get him home, and I paid for it! Then when he got home all he did was moan about how he only has 3 holidays left. The annoyance I’m feeling is almost a thread in itself.

Flowers Op i had really nasty chest infection recently that took two lots of antibiotics and steroids to get rid of it as it badly affected my asthma because i didn't go Dr's when it first started .Take it easy and look after yourself. As my lovely Dr said to me it is ok being mum and putting everyone first but mum is no good to anyone when she can't breathe .Very good food for thought. Hope you feel better soon .
