Why do I always have a soggy bottom?

....whenever I cook a pizza?
We have those trays with holes in them and cook the pizzas on those. Everything else goes crispy in the oven but pizzas are always cooked on top with soggy dough instead of nicely baked dough.

Your oven is not hot enough.

Whack the heat right up and heat the tray before you put the pizza on it.

You should only need to cook a fresh pizza for 10 minutes or less if your oven is really hot.

AssassinatedBeauty · 22/02/2019 20:38

Too low a temperature? Too many wet toppings?

Hitsnooze · 22/02/2019 20:39

Are you heating the tray while ovens pre heating?
I know whenever I make anything in the oven I have to heat whatever I'm cooking on otherwise it sticks or stays soggy

onthenaughtystepagain · 22/02/2019 20:39

If I'm cooking a frozen pizza I put it onto the bars, no tray, it cooks very well and crispy.

RiverTam · 22/02/2019 20:40

We preheat the oven at full whack.

Pizza on top shelf, baking tray on shelf immediately below.

Adjust temp to whatever it says on packaging.

HollowTalk · 22/02/2019 20:46

I wouldn't put it on a tray. Turn the oven on for 15 minutes beforehand then blast it for about 8 minutes.

littlepeas · 22/02/2019 20:50

Lose the tray.

pollysproggle · 22/02/2019 20:58

I second pre heating the tray!

halfwitpicker · 22/02/2019 21:00

Bake on bottom of oven, it's needs to be 425

Slippiepippie · 22/02/2019 21:00

Too much tomato puree or wet ingredients.

Less of the puree and shorter cooking time.

TheCrowFromBelow · 22/02/2019 21:01

Are you cooking dough or part baked bases?
Part baked (ready made) are best straight on the bars.
I cook my dough ones on a baking sheet for 5 mins then slide them into the bars with a fish slice.

llangennith · 22/02/2019 21:15

Make sure the oven is hot enough before you put the pizza in. Maybe your oven isn't set right, try setting it 10degs hotter.

BrizzleMint · 22/02/2019 21:32

we never heat the oven so I guess that's why. I'll reheat it next time. thanks.

We do home-made ones in the frying pan on the hob and then finish under the grill.

babysharkah · 22/02/2019 21:49

Always ore heat the oven, stick it in the shelf it the tray and don't have too much cheese.
