To throw the keyboard out of the window

Somewhat lighthearted....

Have a new girl on our team who started a few weeks ago. She's very keen, excited and happy to be on our team and we do need her.

But the constant GLEE at everything we do, all our meetings, any email from a client, is getting just slightly wearing. This morning she suggested we put glittery unicorns on some new client branding we're proposing Hmm.

If she's not working she seems to smash the shit out of her keyboard chatting to friends in different teams. I have headphones in and I can hear her TYPING.

WIBU to 1) ask her to pipe down, or 2) smash the keyboard over her head?

Keyboard on head vote from me and that's purely for the unicorn suggestion

"Oh do fuck off with your tippety tappety and sparkly twatting unicorn jollity!"

Give it time, when the reality of the daily workplace grind hits her she’ll soon be as jaded as the rest of you! Grin

We have a similar junior, bless her, she was super-enthusiastic and bubbly about everything when she first started, quite refreshing in an office full of miserable farts. I did have to speak to her about the text stars and flowers trail in her email signature and about emojis and exclamation points everywhere, 6 months on she’s toned it down quite a lot. It’s Silicon Valley so we’re pretty relaxed written formwise but even the people at trendy start-ups expect a minimum of professionalism from companies they’re buying from.

I have two people like this in my team. It is honestly exhausting to be brought presents in every day and get constant huge over the top reactions and massive compliments to anything I do

Even approval of a contract to go gets a big hand clap and a YAAAYYYY THANK YOU SO MUCH SHIRLEY YOU ARE THE BEST!

Please be assured that I really really am not the best

@bigone thank you. Not sure a plumbing company would be able to get a lot out of sparkly unicorns.

@mumsy believe me, this is exactly what I'm thinking most off the day

@warped @shirley I get that she's keen and she's really happy to be on the team but she's making me feel like a big old mardy arse for not feeling the need to jump up and high five everyone everytime I get an email

@Shirley OMG you really are THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
